Description

Yellow flowering perennial arugula.  Common name is Sylvetta.  With a tap root over 6″ deep, this arugula will overwinter down to zone 5!  Self seeds readily, you’ll have a solid bed of arugula in no time.

BOTANICAL NAME: Diplotaxis, “Sylvetta”, “wall rocket” , “wild rocket”

Perennial arugula flowers have a wonderful aroma that will permeate your entire garden.  Honeybees love this flower!  The flowers, buds and leaves are edible and make a very special salad by themselves or mixed with other greens.  The flavor is spicier than common arugula- use on pizzas, sandwiches, sauteed, even as a pesto! Leaves will keep 7-10 days in the salad crisper in your refrigerator.

If left alone, the plant can grow to around 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide.  However, keeping the arugula leaves harvested results in more tender new leaves.
